Fishing In Exmouth Docks ( Marina )

Photo to the left is looking from the left hand side of the harbour out towards Dawlish Warren on an outgoing tide I would fish from in front where the 2 campervans are. her sling a baited set up out into the channel (the tide rip can be quite strong so be prepared) Also you’ll need to keep a look out for boat traffic as they don’t care if your fishing. But success can be had just by having a small underarm flick out towards the rocks, Wrasse can be had As well as Pollock, Mackerel, Pouting, Bass and Garfish,Best baits can be rag worm, crab (peeler or small hardback), Mackerel strip, Lug and small sand eels, though personally I prefer spinning a small white delta lure (about 2 inches) behind a bullet weight

The photo to the left shows the area just to the left of the above photo and you can see the slipway To the left of the slipway is some very deep water and is an area that is very under fished Back when I was learning to fish, my father used to take me and my twin brother down there And we'd go home with some monster plaice, (on a naff 6ft fibreglass rod as well!) Possibly best to hold the rod here as the rocks won’t care how much you paid for it! Also, again, be careful of the boat traffic

The photo to the left shows the sea looking out towards Dawlish Warren casting out from here with a string of mackerel feathers on provides an opportunity to fill your bait freezer up fast or provide enough fresh fish to go on the bbq, droping small lures/bait straight down will also find you some pollock and wrasse.

The photo to the left shows the left hand side of the harbour looking into the harbour itself, It can get very busy here during the summer months and its an ideal place for people to learn to fish because you can't help but catch them, when the mackerel are in a single spinner cast to the other side and retrieved slowly will produce the fish, once the tide is in full flow it can be difficult to get the bait to stay in the right place and youll soon end up snagged up on the bottom, so keep going up in weight size till you can hold position

The photo to the left shows the area just to the left of the photo above, casting lures into the slack water area (on the left of the photo) will produce the fish as they are waiting here for their lunch to swim past, or cast straight out towards the lifeboat and retrieve the spinner/lure, boat traffic can be quite a pain here as they are constantly coming in and out the harbour and will quite happily cut through your line should it get caught on their boat, so it pays to keep an eye out,

The photo to the left shows where the old pier once stood, (now replaced with the steel pillars) im always tempted to fish off the rocks here out into the main flow but have never actually done it, so if someone has done it can you email me and let me know how you got on?

The photo to the left shows the view into the harbour itself, there is no fishing from the railing on the right all the way down into the harbour and all the way round the harbour itself, no fishing is allowed in the harbour! Also the opposite side (the long wall) is inaccessable to date which is a shame as it would be great to fish off here

The photo to the left shows the area by the rocks just zoomed in, tempting isnt it?

Still tempting isnt it?

View from the inside of the harbour looking out towards Dawlish (again no fishing allowed in the harbour itself)
